Here for our islands.
Honest answers.
Careful choices.
A calm, measured voice for our islands. Clear about the choices, the costs and the results.
A practical starting point
Care for our islands.
Account for our decisions.
I want our islands to remain places where people can live, work and build a life. You should know why I support a decision, what it will cost and whether it delivers. Looking after this place means being open with the people who call it home.
Accountability starts with understanding
Area B,
explained.
What do our services do? Where does the money go? What could the next few years cost? I’ve brought the figures together in plain language, with charts, sources and the assumptions behind the projections.

Meet Sandy
A decade here.
A reason to step up.
My wife and I came to Cortes looking for a quieter life. Ten years later, it is home.
I spent my career in live sound production, working concerts, festivals and touring shows. Away from work, I’m a car guy. At home, there is always something happening in the garden.
My decision to run began with a conversation about the roads. Someone suggested that, instead of just being frustrated, I could do something about it. I started thinking seriously about how I could contribute.
I’m putting that thought into action: listening, learning the job and working toward practical improvements. I will be straight about what I know, what I still need to find out and what I can realistically do.
I’d like to hear what matters to youWhat matters to me.
I’m new to running for office. I’ve started talking to people about what needs attention. There are a lot of smart, experienced people here, and I have plenty to learn from them.
Our roads are in poor repair. The bigger Cortes ferry has helped, but getting through Quadra to Campbell River can still hold up the whole trip. I’d like to see those everyday problems get more attention.
I’d like to see the work our money is paying for. If money is being collected for a service or a project, I want to know what’s actually getting done.
I like Cortes the way it is. We need a bit of growth, but it has to be careful. There are young families here trying to build a life, and I want to hear what would help them.
How I will represent you
Listen carefully.
Speak honestly.
Report back.
I will be a calm and measured voice for Cortes and the surrounding islands, regionally and beyond. I will approach disagreements respectfully and represent Area B’s interests clearly and firmly at the regional board and with provincial and federal governments.
When something changes or a decision falls short, I will explain it. When I get something wrong, I will correct the record. Being accountable means remaining available after a decision has been made.

What needs
a clearer answer?
A question about your taxes. A decision that needs explaining. A road that needs attention. I’d like to hear from you, and if I don’t have the answer, I will say so and work to find it.
